Lambing 2022
Miriam Fuller
Lambing 2022 feels like it went by in a flash! It started off early in beautiful sunshine, then the weather took a turn with high winds, cold temperatures and even some snow; the ewes and lambs coped well and soon the flock was in full swing.
We have a new Romney ram, Atticus, and alongside Horace, our Shetland ram, they produced some stunning lambs.
For the first time in 9 years, the flock did not scan for any triplets, however, I was surprised on a Saturday night by two regular lambs and a tiny triplet.
Now all the ewes have lambed, the flock will spend some time on the main farm while a few sheep and lambs get a little extra care before heading off to other parts of the farm under close watch of the team.
Lambing is an intense period full of lows and highs, an experience I love. Now I am a full time student again, I am grateful for the opportunity to come back and run lambing. But until the summer, it’s back to the books!
